Ingredients

sweet-potato-pie-ingredientsFor the Pie Crust

(You can use store-bought but homemade is always the best)

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour or spelt flour for a rustic touch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 2–4 tablespoons ice water

For the Filling

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes (about 450–500 g), roasted, peeled, and mashed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup SheaDare maple sugar
  • ½ cup evaporated milk or coconut milk or almond milk (or heavy cream for richness)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons SheaDare Baobab Powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon SheaDare Ginger Powder
  • Pinch of salt

Preparation Steps

1️⃣ Roast the Sweet Potatoes

  • Wash, prick, and bake the sweet potatoes (200°C / 400°F for 45–50 min) until tender.
  • Let them cool, peel off the skin, and mash until smooth and creamy (no lumps).

2️⃣ Make the Filling

  • In a large bowl, beat the mashed sweet potatoes with butter until fluffy and creamy.
  • Add maple sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla, and spices.
  • Mix in baobab and ginger powder until evenly combined — the baobab adds a citrusy brightness, balancing the pie’s sweetness.
  • Mix until silky smooth — the texture should resemble thick pancake batter.

3️⃣ Prepare the Crust

  • Combine flour and salt in a bowl.
  • Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add ice water a tablespoon at a time until dough holds together.
  • Roll out and press into a 9-inch pie dish.

4️⃣ Assemble & Bake

  • Pour the filling into the crust.
  • Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Bake at 175°C / 350°F for 50–60 minutes until set (a knife inserted near the center comes out clean).
  • Cool completely before slicing.

Decorative Touch

  • Roll extra pie dough and cut out leaf shapes or a turkey motif using cookie cutters.
  • Arrange on top of the filling before baking.
  • Brush with egg wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp milk) for a golden finish.

Serving & Storage Suggestions

  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.
  • Add a dollop of whipped cream or drizzle of honey or vanilla ice cream.
  • Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon sugar or maple sugar or extra baobab powder for presentation.
  • Keeps it 3-4 days in the fridge.

International Women’s Day: Embracing Empowerment Through Positive Thinking

Post by

SheaDare Women's Day

Introduction:

March 8th marks International Women’s Day—a day to honor the achievements, resilience, and transformative power of women around the globe. Today, we not only celebrate these accomplishments but also spotlight the role of positive thinking in driving change and inspiring progress.

Empowering Through Positivity:

Positive thinking is more than just a mindset; it’s a catalyst for empowerment. When we choose optimism over doubt, we open the door to creativity, resilience, and action. For many women, positive thinking has been the foundation for overcoming challenges in both personal and professional arenas. By shifting our focus to our strengths and opportunities, we create a ripple effect that extends far beyond ourselves.

Celebrating Achievements:

Every woman’s journey is unique. Whether it’s leading a team at work, nurturing a family, or breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated fields, the spirit of positivity fuels these accomplishments. On International Women’s Day, we recognize these triumphs and acknowledge that behind every success lies a story of determination, hard work, and an unwavering belief in a better tomorrow.

Inspiring Change:

Positive thinking not only helps us achieve our own goals but also inspires others. When women support each other and share their experiences, they create a powerful network of encouragement. This collective positivity fosters an environment where ideas flourish, and change becomes inevitable. It’s about creating a legacy of empowerment that future generations can build upon.

Call to Action:

Today, let’s commit to nurturing a mindset that celebrates growth and positivity. Share your story, uplift a friend, and let your light shine. Every small act of kindness, every moment of perseverance, and every spark of optimism contributes to a brighter, more inclusive future. Happy International Women’s Day—may your journey be filled with empowerment and endless possibilities!
